Masasumi Kakizaki is a Japanese manga artist born on May 18, 1978, in Monbetsu, Hokkaido. He debuted in 2001 with the one-shot Two Tops before launching his first series X-Gene in 2002. His most acclaimed work, Rainbow: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin (2002-2010), illustrated in collaboration with writer George Abe, won the 51st Shogakukan Manga Award in 2005 and received an anime adaptation. Known for his bold, expressive artwork and gritty realism, Kakizaki's other notable works include Green Blood, Bestiarius, and The Tree of Death: Yomotsuhegui, showcasing his mastery of intense action and dramatic storytelling.
