Background

• Batman: Mad Love was first published by DC Comics in 1994 as a one-shot comic under the Batman Adventures line (which was set in the continuity of Batman: The Animated Series).

• It’s most famous for providing Harley Quinn’s origin story, showing how she went from Dr. Harleen Quinzel, psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, to the Joker’s accomplice and lover.

• The story was later adapted into an episode of The New Batman Adventures (also written by Dini and directed by Timm).
