The Bayeux Tapestry is a monumental 11th-century embroidered cloth, nearly 230 feet long, depicting the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, culminating in the Battle of Hastings, and is considered a crucial piece of Romanesque art and medieval history. Created in England shortly after the conquest, possibly by Bishop Odo (William the Conqueror's half-brother), it serves as both an artistic masterpiece and a historical chronicle, showing events from 1064 to the battle itself from the Norman perspective, complete with Latin inscriptions, figures, and intricate borders featuring fables
