Model description

Elizabeth "Betty" Brant first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #4 (September 1963), created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Introduced as the secretary to Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson, Betty was hired to support her family after her brother Bennett accrued gambling debts and her mother suffered permanent injury from mob violence. She quickly became Peter Parker's first significant romantic interest, drawn to his kindness amid her traumatic background, though their relationship ended due to Betty's anxiety over Peter's dangerous double life as Spider-Man.

Betty later married fellow reporter Ned Leeds, whose brainwashing and death as the Hobgoblin deeply affected her, leading to periods of emotional turmoil and brief affairs, including with Flash Thompson. Transitioning from secretary to investigative journalist, she contributed to major exposés, most notably revealing Roderick Kingsley as the true Hobgoblin, clearing Ned's name posthumously. Her resilience shone in collaborations with colleagues like Ben Urich and in facing threats tied to Spider-Man's world.

In recent stories, such as The Amazing Spider-Man (2022 series) issues from 2024, Betty continues as a dedicated reporter at the Daily Bugle, pursuing corruption and confronting dangers alongside Spider-Man, while exploring personal ties to her late husband's legacy. As a longstanding supporting character, she embodies professionalism, vulnerability, and growth within the Spider-Man mythos.
