Biopunk is a subgenre of science fiction that examines the implications of biotechnology, especially genetic engineering. An offshoot of cyberpunk, it replaces cybernetics and information technology with synthetic biology and body modification. Biopunk explores dark, dystopian futures where scientific advancement intersects with corporate greed and moral ambiguity.
