Legend:

Mithrala was previously a rebel and a thief, nothing more than a highwayman sent to rob the people travelling between cities. After her company of thieves and mercenaries turned on her, she took to the ea. She became a pirate; part of a large group of pirates responsible for heinous crimes against other sailors. Unlike her role as a thief, she was expected to be willing to murder if the task required. After her sword tasted blood for the first time, something changed inside of her. She no longer felt guilt or remorse. She was a merciless pirate who killed her captain in his sleep and dared her new crew to oppose her. She spent decades raiding the seas and plundering villages with no opposition. She soon found, however, that there is always "a bigger fish". During a raid of a monastery some 20 years prior, she had murdered a bride and groom who were just beginning their new life. Unbeknownst to Mithrala, death was not the end of the two lovers she had slain. Death could not keep them apart, and they searched in vain for years without ever encountering the Gorgon Mistress - until that search came to an end…

The undead bride and groom stumbled upon Mithrala in an underground crypt where her wings were no longer an asset. She was cornered by the vengeful spirits and was being beaten to death but managed to strike a bargain with them before they took her immortal soul. She had to recover their corpses and bury them together where they had met - a small village that would most certainly like a monstrous pirate in their lands. In exchange for Mithrala's life, she agreed to no longer take the life of any other and would instead have to use her words to resolve conflicts. She spoke with the villagers and they agreed to let Mithrala bury the husband and wife, but under several conditions…

And with each new task and each new conditional agreement made by Mithrala, she became more peaceful, but at the same time, less tolerant of others. Constantly performing tasks to meet the requirements of pathetic mortals drover her mad. Her madness increased to the point at which she began to involve herself in the conflicts of others - people she had no similar agendas, no reason for Mithrala to care if they lived or died. She would immediately identify the party she determined to be in the wrong and have them executed. Not executing the death sentences herself, of course, since that would break her bond with the vengeful spirits.

She now travels the land, sea and air seeking conflict. She recruits those necessary to perform the executions, generally finding those she could intimidate to murder those she found guilty. Once the executioner is chosen, she will judge all those she finds to be in the wrong and have the executioner exterminate them, oftentimes resulting in the community finding and murdering her executioner - forcing her to find another.

While most know the tale of Mithrala and her role as judge of humanity, they will decline the assignment of executioner and force Mithrala to move on, but whenever she finds a willing soul to strike the killing blow, blood fills streets and corridors or villages and cities surrounding them, ultimately resulting in the death of the executioner and the relocation of Mithrala.

When Mithrala is at rest, she sails the seas near the large cities awaiting another willing blade. Several have attempted to confront the Peacemaker, but this silver-tongued immortal will make a bond that requires they become her executioner which never ends well. She's  become a last resort to end conflicts, but she does so well - very well. She's able to resolve conflict by bringing death, but not by her own hand - instead by those who desire peace - and peace they ultimately find.
