Turanga Leela is a central character in the animated television series Futurama. Voiced by Katey Sagal, she is the competent one-eyed mutant who serves as the spaceship captain and pilot for Planet Express.

Originally believed to be an alien, Leela's backstory reveals that she was born to mutant parents in the sewers of New New York. Because she appeared to be only mildly mutated with just one eye, her parents made the difficult decision to leave her at an orphanage on the surface to give her a chance at a better life.
