Nutmeg is a fragrant, warm spice from the seed of the Myristica fragrans evergreen tree, native to Indonesia, used in both sweet (pies, eggnog, baked goods) and savory dishes (creamy sauces, soups, meat dishes) for its nutty, slightly sweet flavor, and it's distinct from tree nuts, being safe for allergy sufferers.
