Model description
Boosette, also known as Booette, is a fan-created character that emerged within the Super Mario fandom in late September 2018. The concept originated as a derivative of the viral "Bowsette" meme, which was sparked by a fan comic depicting Bowser transformed into a princess-like figure using the Super Crown power-up introduced in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. This power-up, revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation on September 13, 2018, allows Toadette to become Peachette, prompting fans to speculate on its effects on other characters. Boosette specifically applies the transformation to a Boo (or often King Boo), resulting in a feminine, ghostly counterpart to Princess Peach, with initial fan artworks appearing rapidly on social media platforms shortly after the Bowsette trend gained traction.
In fan depictions, Boosette is characterized as a pale-skinned, ethereal princess with long flowing hair, a dark elegant dress incorporating elements of Peach's gown, and distinctive Boo traits such as invisibility, floating, a long tongue, and occasionally fangs or a mischievous expression. She retains the spooky and playful essence of the Boo enemies, first introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3 (1988 in Japan, 1990 internationally), while adopting a regal and alluring appearance influenced by the Super Crown's mechanics. Unlike official Nintendo characters, Boosette has no canonical abilities or storyline, existing solely through community interpretations that blend horror-themed ghostly elements with the Mario series' whimsical style.
The character's popularity surged alongside the broader Bowsette phenomenon, inspiring extensive fan art, cosplay, and online discussions that briefly influenced internet culture and even drew indirect attention from media outlets covering Nintendo trends. Although Boosette has appeared in unofficial fan projects, animations, and merchandise replicas, she remains non-canonical, with no official acknowledgment or integration into Nintendo's games or media. This fan-driven development exemplifies the creative engagement of the Super Mario community in expanding the universe beyond official releases.
