Details

Model description

Princess Lana is the central female protagonist of Captain N: The Game Master, an animated television series produced by DIC Entertainment in association with Nintendo, which aired on NBC from 1989 to 1991. Created specifically for the show and not derived from any existing Nintendo video game, she first appeared in the premiere episode, "Kevin in Videoland," broadcast on September 9, 1989. In the series' lore, Lana is the princess of Videoland, a multidimensional realm composed of various video game worlds. When her father, King Charles, is banished to the Mirror World by the antagonist Mother Brain, Lana assumes leadership of Videoland and assembles the N Team to combat threats from the League of Darkness.

Lana is depicted as a teenage human with long brown hair, green eyes, and a regal yet practical appearance, typically wearing a pink dress with gold trim, a tiara, white boots, and gloves. She is characterized as intelligent, compassionate, determined, and strategically minded, serving as the de facto leader of the N Team, which includes Captain N (Kevin Keene) and heroes pulled from games such as Mega Man, Simon Belmont from Castlevania, and Pit (referred to as Kid Icarus). Although she lacks superhuman abilities, Lana demonstrates resourcefulness, occasionally wielding a whip or energy-based weapons, and frequently devises plans to outmaneuver villains drawn from Nintendo franchises, including Mother Brain from Metroid, King Hippo from Punch-Out!!, and Eggplant Wizard from Kid Icarus.

Over the course of the series' three seasons and 34 episodes, Lana evolves from a distressed princess into a confident ruler, developing romantic feelings for Kevin that create ongoing emotional tension, though these remain largely unresolved due to his longing to return to Earth. Key developments include her efforts to restore her father, forge alliances across game worlds, and ultimately secure peace in Videoland in the series finale. Despite being part of officially licensed Nintendo media during its run, accompanied by a Valiant Comics adaptation from 1990, Princess Lana has never appeared in any Nintendo video game and has no presence in modern canonical continuities, remaining a product exclusive to the Captain N franchise.
