Model description

Nubia is a prominent Amazonian superheroine in DC Comics, first appearing in Wonder Woman #204 (January/February 1973), created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Don Heck. Introduced during the Bronze Age as Wonder Woman's long-lost fraternal twin sister, Nubia was sculpted from dark clay by Queen Hippolyta shortly before Diana, making her the elder twin. Abducted as an infant by Ares (the god of war, then known as Mars), she was raised on Slaughter Island, brainwashed to serve as his champion, and trained among male warriors. In her debut, she challenged Diana for the title of Wonder Woman, resulting in a draw, before being freed from mind control and welcomed back to Themyscira as a princess, forging a strong sisterly bond with Diana.

Nubia possesses the standard attributes of an Amazon, including superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, stamina, and immortality, along with exceptional skill in hand-to-hand combat, swordsmanship, archery, and tactical leadership. In various continuities, she has wielded magical weaponry, demonstrated enhanced healing by merging with the earth, and exhibited abilities such as a "Cold Sight" for paralysis or interdimensional travel via specialized armor. As guardian of Doom's Doorway in modern iterations—a subterranean portal on Themyscira leading to the underworld—she has defended against escaping threats, showcasing her indomitable will and strategic acumen honed over millennia.

Following a prolonged absence after limited Bronze Age appearances, Nubia was reintroduced in post-Crisis continuity as Nu'Bia, guardian of Doom's Doorway, and fully revitalized in the Infinite Frontier era beginning in 2021. Retconned as an Amazon reborn from the Well of Souls (originally a betrayed princess named Zahavah), she emerged as a key figure in Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman, shared the Wonder Woman mantle with Diana, and ascended to Queen of Themyscira after Hippolyta's abdication. Major developments include starring in the miniseries Nubia & the Amazons (2021), Trial of the Amazons (2022)—where she unified the splintered Amazon tribes—and Nubia: Queen of the Amazons (2022), addressing threats like Medusa's possession and a Chaos god while promoting diplomacy in Man's World, solidifying her as a regal leader and ally to the Justice League.
