Irene Adler, known as Destiny, is a mutant supervillain and occasional antihero in Marvel Comics, renowned for her precognitive abilities. Created by writer Chris Claremont and artist John Byrne, she made her debut in The Uncanny X-Men #141 (January 1981) as part of the iconic "Days of Future Past" storyline. Born in late 19th-century Austria to a privileged family, Adler was blind from birth, with her mutant powers manifesting dramatically at age 13, overwhelming her with visions of possible futures. Upon revival, she joined the Quiet Council of Krakoa, wielding considerable influence. Further developments revealed her as the biological mother of Nightcrawler, conceived through Mystique's shapeshifting, and in 2024 depictions, she renewed vows with Mystique in Marvel's first portrayed same-sex mutant wedding, cementing her enduring legacy within X-Men lore.
