Raweroa from the manga Nivawa and Saitô (2015). She is a supporting character belonging to the Afika, an intelligent aquatic species that lives in the deep ocean in the series created by Nagabe. She is depicted as a female Afika with a marine-like body, large eyes, and distinctive aquatic features similar to other members of her species. In the story she is known as the mother of Nivawa, the young Afika who goes to live with the human Saitô in order to study human behavior. Her role is to supervise or check on Nivawa’s stay in the human world and ensure his mission continues. The Afika species are portrayed as curious observers of human society and culture. Members of this species often visit land using specialized gear that allows them to function outside water.
