Ember McLain (Nickelodeon | Danny Phantom)

Ember McLain is a ghostly rock star and recurring antagonist in the animated series Danny Phantom. In life, she was an unpopular teenage girl with big dreams of becoming a famous musician. She was stood up on a date one night and waited for hours in vain, only to return home exhausted and fall asleep. A fire broke out while she slept, and she perished in the flames. Rising as a powerful ghost, Ember now channels her resentment into a quest for fame and control through hypnotic rock music. She made her first appearance in the Season 1 episode "Fanning the Flames," where she performed her hit song "Remember" in an attempt to brainwash the world into chanting her name and granting her immense power.

In her debut episode, Ember used her guitar and music to hypnotize audiences and nearly succeeded in dominating Amity Park. She placed a love spell on Danny Fenton, making him obsess over Sam Manson to distract him from interfering with her plans. Danny ultimately defeated her by exploiting the fact that her power depended on people repeatedly saying her name. Ember returned prominently in the Season 2 episode "Pirate Radio," teaming up with Youngblood to broadcast a hypnotic ballad version of her song that brainwashed adults across the city, allowing them to carry out their scheme involving a fake cruise ship.

Although frequently antagonistic, Ember made several cameo appearances in larger events, including the ghost invasion in "Reign Storm." She also formed a temporary alliance with Kitty and Penelope Spectra in the Season 3 episode "Girls' Night Out" in an attempt to remove all men from Amity Park. In the series finale "Phantom Planet," Ember joined numerous other ghosts in assisting Danny against a worldwide threat. Throughout the series, she remains a rebellious, attention-hungry spirit whose schemes revolve around using music as a weapon to achieve the fame and adoration she was denied in life.
