Model description

Mystique, whose true identity is Raven Darkhölme, is a longstanding mutant antagonist and occasional ally in Marvel Comics, renowned for her extraordinary shapeshifting abilities. Created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Dave Cockrum, she made her debut with a cameo appearance in Ms. Marvel #16 (May 1978) and her first full appearance in Ms. Marvel #18 (June 1978). In her natural form, Mystique possesses blue skin, yellow eyes, and red hair; her metamorphic powers enable her to perfectly replicate the physical appearance, voice, fingerprints, and retinal patterns of any human, while also conferring enhanced agility, regenerative healing, toxin resistance, and significantly slowed aging, allowing her to maintain a youthful visage despite being over a century old.

Early in her publication history, Mystique emerged as a cunning villain, initially serving under Magneto in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants before forming her own iteration to pursue anti-human agendas, including clashes with Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) and the X-Men. A pivotal development involved her adoption and mentorship of the young mutant Rogue, whom she trained in the use of her power-absorbing abilities and integrated into the Brotherhood, though this relationship fractured when Rogue permanently absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers and sought refuge with the X-Men. Mystique's profound romantic partnership with the precognitive mutant Destiny (Irene Adler), whom she met in the early 20th century, deeply influenced her actions; following Destiny's death during a confrontation with the Reavers, Mystique's grief fueled increasingly ruthless behavior, including leadership of the government-sanctioned Freedom Force team and subsequent betrayals.

Over time, Mystique's character has evolved into a morally complex anti-heroine, marked by revelations such as her biological motherhood of Nightcrawler (conceived with the extradimensional mutant Azazel) and Graydon Creed (with Sabretooth), both relationships strained by abandonment. She has infiltrated heroic teams like the X-Men and X-Factor, engaged in espionage, and allied with diverse groups, from Norman Osborn's Dark X-Men to the Astonishing Avengers during moral inversion events. In the Krakoan era, Mystique secured a position on the Quiet Council of the mutant nation Krakoa, orchestrating Destiny's resurrection and conducting covert operations against anti-mutant organizations like Orchis, underscoring her enduring blend of manipulation, loyalty to loved ones, and commitment to mutant survival.
